Built by Deji Folorunso, in Edinburgh.
AdaptScot was founded to bring architect-led design discipline to a market that too often relies on retrofitting trades-led solutions to specialist clinical needs.
The founder
Oketola "Deji" Folorunso is the founder and Managing Director of AdaptScot. Deji has spent his career at the intersection of architecture, accessibility, and public-sector procurement. He started AdaptScot to combine that experience into a single, accountable offer for Edinburgh OTs, framework partners, and private-pay clients.
Credentials
- BTech built-environment training.
- MSc from Robert Gordon University.
- APM project-management discipline.
- CITB site-safety training.
Framework readiness
AdaptScot is built to work cleanly with Edinburgh Council, Care & Repair Edinburgh, Occupational Therapists, and housing partners: published fee ranges, structured handover packs, safeguarding policies, insurance evidence, and framework-ready reporting.
Why this venture
Most accessibility adaptations are delivered by trades-led contractors with no design discipline. The result, too often, is technically compliant but spatially awkward, hard to clean, and visually punitive — exactly the opposite of what the household needs to feel at home.
AdaptScot starts every engagement with design. We work to the OT's clinical specification but we also think about how the room is used in the morning, how the light falls in winter, and how a grab rail can read as a beautifully made object rather than a piece of hospital kit.
How we work
- Architect-led, but plain-spoken. No jargon. No "feature walls".
- Productised pricing. Published fee ranges, transparent trade costs.
- Single point of accountability. The founder is involved in every Year 1 engagement.
- Edinburgh-specific. Built around tenement, listed, and conservation-area realities.
A note on professional designation
The Architects Act 1997 restricts use of the title "Architect" to those registered with ARB. AdaptScot describes its services as "architect-led" or "architectural design" only where compatible with the registration status of the individuals performing the work. Where regulated design services are needed, we partner with ARB-registered practices.
